There is a helpful Try it out feature in the documentation which allows users to get started
easily on the programming interface.
Once logged in, use the drop-down navigation:
to select the API you are looking for:
Firstly, you will need to enter your JWT to get access to live data.
Click the Authorize button to continue:
Paste your API Key into the Value field:
And click the Authorize button to continue. Your key is validated and if successful, the following is displayed.
Click the Close button to continue:
Now let's look at making a request to retrieve some data. This example will use the CWG API but the same principles apply to all the MetDesk API’s.
To retrieve any data from the live API you will need to use the “Try it out” feature.
Navigate to the CWG Documentation in the top right drop down:
Scroll down until you find the Locations Endpoint as shown below. Notice the lock icon is shown unlocked, indicating if you are not logged in:
Clicking the Get button will reveal the more information about the Endpoint including Parameters, Responses and the "Try it out" button:
Note that this Endpoint has no mandatory Parameters, so you can click the "Try it out" button to continue, the Execute button will be displayed:
Click the Execute button to continue. The Responses section will now contain the data requested, note the Download button which will download the data in JSON format.
Find the Issues Endpoint as shown below. This Endpoint requires a Parameter, Model, to be included in the Request. Note that this Parameter is mandatory for this Request.
Click the Model dropdown to reveal the options available.
